Nocturne, Gallarus Oratory, Dingle, Co. KerryGallarus Oratory has stood on the Dingle Peninsula for somewhere between 800 and 1,300 years, depending on who you ask. Nobody knows for certain. What is certain is that the dry stone corbelled roof still keeps out the rain, which for a building with no mortar is remarkable. I made this photograph on a clear night with a warm glow sitting low on the horizon behind the hills. Long exposure pulled the cloud movement into soft streaks across the stars
